Wat Is Ascorbic Acid Ofwel Vitamine-C?
That you get a fresh and healthy glow from Vitamin C is well known, but it does much more for your skin than just make you glow. Vitamin C has many different variants that you can use to improve your skin concerns. At Prescription, we chose the variant of ascorbic acid or, Prescription Ascorbic Acid 20%.
Our ascorbic acid is a lab based variant, with even stronger properties.
What is the effect of Vitamin C on your skin?
- Vitamin C improves the skin's ability to repair itself and is also very beneficial to wound healing (this also applies to scars).
- The production of collagen is stimulated by vitamin C, which makes the skin feel firmer.
- It protects your skin from uv rays and blue light, which in turn prevents skin aging.
- Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that protects against irritation, pollution and inflammatory reactions.
- Visible pigment damage fades and skin evens out.
How do you get vitamin C?
Our bodies do not produce vitamin C themselves and are therefore completely dependent on the food your body receives. Vitamin C is found in the moisture of foods and is absorbed directly into your blood from there. Excess vitamin C will leave your body again through your urine.
What foods contain vitamin C?
There are certain foods that contain a high concentration of vitamin C. These products we recommend to eat with some regularity to ensure sufficient vitamin C in your body.
- Red bell pepper
- Oranges
- Broccoli
- Strawberries
- Potatoes (seet)
- Brussels sprouts
Prescription Ascorbic Acid 20% acts as an antioxidant protecting and mainly also repairing any damage incurred. Vitamin C can enhance the power of SPF. A dual effect is created on your skin; the vitamin C acts as an antioxidant as a restorer and the SPF as a protector against the UV rays.
Our tips
Mix a few drops of the Ascorbic Acid into your cleanser for an extra glowy look. If you think with the above information, "this is too good to be true...", cut an orange in half and sprinkle one side with vitamin C. If you look after an hour the difference is obvious, the sprinkled half is beautiful and glowy! Of course, this example is not 1 on 1 with your skin, but gives an idea of the effect of Prescription 's Ascorbic Acid.
