What is Salicylic Acid?

To achieve fresh and even skin, it is important to regularly remove dead skin cells by using an exfoliant. One of the most popular exfoliants is salicylic acid. This exfoliant is a lot milder compared to other acids, such as fruit acids. This makes the ingredient suitable for sensitive skin, but it is also the number one exfoliant if you suffer from blemished skin or even acne.

BHA
Salicylic acid is a BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) obtained from the bark of willow trees. BHAs are fat-soluble and therefore very suitable for skin with increased sebum production. Salicylic acid penetrates deep into the pores and dissolves excess sebum here. It also removes dead skin cells and stimulates cell renewal. Good to know: after using an exfoliant, skin is always more sensitive to sunlight, so always use an SPF. Our shield cream SPF30 protects your skin optimally, without clogging.

For Whom
Salicylic acid is ideally suited for blemished, oily skins due to its sebum dissolving and regulating effects. However, salicylic acid is also good to use with sensitive skin. This is because it has a calming effect. Salicylic acid stimulates cells to produce anti-inflammatory elements. To enhance this calming effect, we have combined salicylic acid with azelaic acid. Azelaine inhibits the growth of bacteria and reduces redness on the skin.

How to use
This effective exfoliant is also easy to use. Mix 3 drops of the salicylic acid 2% + azelaic acid 7% with the Edelweiss cleanser, massage it into the skin for 30 to 60 seconds and remove thoroughly with lukewarm water and pat your skin dry. Do this 3 times a week. A very active inflammation? Dot the area locally with salicylic acid before sleeping, repeat this for 2-3 days and the inflammation will be gone in no time!
