What Niacinamide does for your skin

Niacinamide is seen as one of the most popular skincare products of 2021, and for good reason: it is in fact a true all-rounder. This miraculous substance is also suitable for all skin types.

What is Niacinamide?
Niacinamide is a vitamin B3, a vital substance for the body and skin that strengthens the skin barrier.

Skin expert Maaike Nanninga explains: "Vitamin B3 is something we obtain through food such as fish, meat and nuts. It is an essential vitamin for our body that allows our digestive tract and nervous system, among others, to function properly. The cosmetics industry started testing decades ago whether Niacinamide could also create positive effects on the skin, and they found out that it absolutely did. This multitasker appears to provide benefits for almost every skin concern."

What does Niacinamide do for the skin?
“A better question would be: what doesn't it do? Niacinamide creates ceramides and free fatty acids - these natural skin fats strengthen the skin's barrier function. A strong skin barrier loses less moisture and is less susceptible to external harmful influences, this also delays the aging process. In addition, it also has an anti-inflammatory effect, significantly reducing reactions such as redness, swelling and/or itching. Niacinamide can also be used in skin with congestion and impurities, as it is a good regulator of sebum production. Last but not least, at a rate of 5% or higher, it also works to brighten superficial pigmentation."
